Editorial Photography for E-Commerce

Your products,
in a campaign.

Studio Intangible turns your existing product photography into editorial campaign imagery. We composite your products into real locations, photographed on site in Paris, London, and across Europe. The result is campaign-level content, built from what you've already shot, without reshooting, without travel, and without compromise on quality.

Casting, location, editorial

Our workflow is rooted in the real. Every decision we make — model casting, location scouting, styling, art direction — follows the same creative process as a traditional editorial photoshoot. We cast to your brief, scout real locations, and art-direct every composition before production begins. The difference is that we composite these elements digitally, which means you get the creative rigour of a full-scale campaign shoot without the logistics, travel, or studio costs. The result is editorial-grade product imagery that looks and feels like it was shot on location, because every ingredient was.

AI model casting — diverse face options for your brand
1

Casting

We build or select the right model for your brand. Age, look, attitude — cast to your brief, not to what was available on the day.

[LOCATION / BACKGROUND PLATE]
2

Location

Real background plates, shot on site by our cinematographer. We scout and photograph the locations that match your brand world.

[FINAL EDITORIAL]

Editorial

Model, product, and location composited into a finished campaign image. Colour-graded, retouched, and ready to publish.

What can you do with existing product photos?

Each built from your existing e-commerce photography. No reshoots required.

Editorial

How do you turn a packshot into an editorial image?

We take your existing e-commerce product photos, the ones you already have on white backgrounds, and composite them into real photographed locations with AI-generated models. Every background is a real photograph shot on location by our cinematographer on 100-megapixel medium format. The compositing is done manually in Photoshop, not by an algorithm.

The process works in stages. First, we select or create an AI model and choose a background location. Once you approve those, we move to styling, then pose and composition, then final detail work. Each stage locks before the next begins.

Colour

How do you create colour variants without reshooting?

Colour and material swaps are generated from a single set of source images. Shoot once, show every colourway. The pose, lighting, model, and composition stay identical; only the colour changes. This visual consistency focuses the buyer's attention on the one variable that matters: which colour they want.

For brands with multiple colourways per style, this eliminates the need to reshoot each variant. A product available in 6 colours requires one shoot, not six. The swaps maintain fabric texture, drape, and shadow accuracy across all variants.

Styling

How do you build styled looks from separate product photos?

Products photographed separately can be composited into single styled looks. A jacket from one shoot combined with trousers from another, accessories layered onto archived images, new combinations built entirely from your existing image library. No stylist, no studio, no reshoot.

This is particularly valuable for reacting to sales data. When a product becomes a bestseller, you can immediately build content around it by combining it with complementary pieces. New editorial looks generated from existing assets, delivered in days rather than weeks.

Still photos, brought to life

Colourway transitions, 360° product rotations, fabric in motion, editorial walks — built from your existing stills, no video shoot required. Lightweight loops that drop straight into PDPs as hover states, social cuts, or full-screen hero content. Brands using dynamic product imagery see up to 75-second dwell times versus two to three seconds on static images, and video content drives conversion rates up to 80% higher than stills alone.

How does the process work?

1

Brief and creative direction

Tell us what you need. We review your existing imagery and propose the approach: model casting, location selection, styling direction. You approve before production begins.

2

Staged production with review points

We build your visuals in stages. Model and location lock first, then styling, then composition, then final detail work. Each stage is approved before we move forward.

3

Delivery in every format

Final assets delivered ready for web, social, marketplace, and print. Formatted for your CMS, your social feeds, and your campaign needs.

Change the view, keep the room

Same room, different continent. We swapped the view through the windows from Australian bushland to a snowy alpine village — no reshoot, no set rebuild. The furniture, lighting, and reflections stay exactly as they were.

Beauty · Product in Use

Show how it feels

Product photography that moves. We animated a face cream application sequence from still beauty imagery — texture, absorption, the moment of contact. The kind of content that stops a scroll.

Creative Production

Make the impossible real

When the set build is too expensive, we build it in post. A vanity case the size of a car, a model sitting on top of it. No props department required.

Not everything needs to make sense

Sometimes the brief is just: make it feel like something. Distorted, textural, a bit unhinged. This one has nothing to do with AI. We just like it.

Frequently asked questions.

A typical first project with Studio Intangible, including AI model creation, one location, and 20 editorial images, starts from around €8,000. Volume pricing is available for larger catalogues. Models and locations are reusable, so future collections only require per-image production costs, reducing the investment over time.

Self-service AI tools generate everything algorithmically: backgrounds, models, lighting. Studio Intangible uses real photographed locations shot on 100-megapixel medium format, with manual compositing in Photoshop. The result is editorial-quality imagery with the depth and texture of real photography, directed by a creative team rather than generated by software.

Standard e-commerce product photos on white or neutral backgrounds work best. Clean lighting and consistent angles help. If you already have model shots, those work too. We can assess your existing imagery and advise on what will produce the best results.

A first batch of 10-20 images typically takes 2-3 weeks from brief to delivery. Subsequent batches are faster because the AI models and location assets are already built. Turnaround depends on volume and complexity.

Yes. Every project starts with a creative direction phase where we align on casting, location, styling, and mood. You approve everything before production begins. The goal is imagery that feels like a natural extension of your existing brand language, not a generic AI output.

When done with real photographed backgrounds and manual compositing, yes. The difference between AI-generated backgrounds and real location photography is visible, particularly in lighting, depth of field, and environmental texture. Studio Intangible uses real plates specifically to achieve editorial quality that fully AI-generated approaches cannot match.

Yes. The AI models and location assets created for your project are yours to reuse across future campaigns. This is an infrastructure investment: once built, seasonal reorders only require production costs, not setup costs again.

Studio Intangible is based in Paris and works with fashion brands across Europe and internationally. All collaboration is remote, with assets delivered digitally. Backgrounds can be shot in any European city to match your brand's market.

AI-generated backgrounds are created entirely by software from text prompts. They often lack the lighting nuance, depth, and environmental detail that make editorial photography convincing. Studio Intangible uses real photographs shot on location by our cinematographer on 100-megapixel Fuji medium format. The product is composited into these real environments, which is why the results have the depth and texture of genuine location photography.

Better product imagery helps shoppers understand fit, colour, and styling before purchasing, which correlates with lower return rates. Brands using detailed product visualisation, including front-to-back rotations and multiple styling angles, report measurable reductions in returns. The more accurately a product page represents the real product, the fewer surprises for the buyer.
